What is Two-factor Authentication? 600 400 Timewade

Two-factor authentication (2FA) is an effective and easy way to keep your users, customers and your business safe.

How does it work?

Two-factor authentication provides an extra layer of security and therefore not only requires you to supply your username and password, but in addition you will be asked to authenticate who you say you are, by providing a unique code or secondary password that may be supplied from a physical factor such as your mobile phone.

Requiring two different types of authentication means that those accessing their accounts will also require access to their mobile phone to obtain the code or password to login successfully. Also, weak passwords can be cracked in no time at all and so with this extra layer of security reduces phishing attempts as well as the risks of identity fraud.

Some of the benefits of Two-factor authentication:

  • Improved Security by protecting data from cyber criminals, unauthorised access and data breaches.
  • It is easy and simple to use and requires minimal employee training, as it shouldn’t require knowledge of any obscure information that is difficult to remember
  • Enhance your reputation with your customers as it means their data is more secure
  • It is inexpensive for businesses to implement

If you interested in implementing Two-factor authentication, please give Timewade a call or contact us. We will be pleased to discuss your requirements.
